At Stand as One, we turn compassion into action. We design and deliver practical programmes that support education, empower communities, and create lasting opportunities. From local initiatives in the UK to partnerships across East Africa and Zambia, our work focuses on helping people build skills, confidence, and brighter futures. Explore our current initiatives below to see how we are making a difference together.
For those with limited IT backgrounds, we provide Digital Empowerment & workshops thatmove beyond basic computer literacy. We equip participants with the skills to confidently access essential online services, job searching, CV preparations and writing application letters. This ensures that a lack of formal UK credentials does not lead to automatic digital exclusion.
We recognise that traditional employment is not the only pathway to economic security. We provide intensive support for Self-Employment, guiding individuals through the UK’s legal and financial frameworks to launch their own micro-enterprises. A recent success story involves mentoring a beneficiary to launch a fully registered professional cleaning company. We provided the hidden knowledge including business registration, insurance, and client acquisition that formal education often overlooks, moving the individual from under- employment to business ownership.
The Network gap is often the greatest hurdle for our beneficiaries. Stand As One act as a professional bridge, directly linking job-ready beneficiaries with local employers in Sheffield. This reduces the perceived risk for employers while creating immediate income-generating opportunities for our youth. This approach builds the social capital necessary for long-term career success. By combining technical skills with uniquely human traits like adaptability and problem-solving, Stand As One ensures that young adults are not just entering the workforce, but they are prepared to thrive and lead within it.
